A couple of the cosmetic dentistry services that we offer include Veneers and Ceramic Reconstruction.
Ceramic Reconstruction is a 3 step process…
The defective filling and decay is removed. A reflective powder layer prepares the tooth for imaging.
An optical 3D image is acquired with a small camera, directly in your mouth. The restoration is created on the screen using the image’s data. Then diamond coated instruments mill a ceramic block to reproduce the design. This is accomplished during a single appointment using Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacture (CAD/CAM).
After polishing, the new restoration fits precisely. A unique light hardens the bonding material, uniting porcelain and tooth. Polishing or glazing ensures a pleasantly smooth and natural feel. The color and appearance make the special ceramic material blend with your tooth. Perfectly bonded porcelain ensures an extremely long life for your teeth. The finished product is maximum strength and looks great!
Veneers are a thin, translucent coating made out of porcelain or resin (plastic). They are applied to the front teeth to improve their color, size, or shape. Veneers can help you achieve the smile you want.
Veneers help to correct many dental problems, including:
- Teeth discolored from medication or age
- Front teeth that are worn or chipped
- Gaps and other spaces between teeth
- Crooked teeth
Please let the doctor know why you want veneers. If they are not right for you, another type of treatment may be an option.
To prepare your teeth for veneers, your teeth may be lightly filed. A mold of your teeth is then taken and sent to a lab to make your veneers. Before you leave the office, your dentist may apply temporary veneers. If you don’t get temporary veneers, avoid cold foods and drinks. Your teeth may be more sensitive than usual.
Between visits, the doctor may tell you to brush your teeth gently and avoid foods that are too cold. Also to avoid eating hard foods. They may loosen your temporary veneers.
On your next visit, your veneers will be bonded. But before they are, the doctor will fit the veneers on your teeth and check the color. Slight changes in veneer color can be made by varying the color of the cement. The surfaces of your teeth are then cleansed. The veneers are bonded to your teeth with a special cement that is hardened with a high-intensity light. Any excess cement is removed. Finished veneers should feel comfortable and natural.
Be sure to contact us if your veneers become uncomfortable, discolored, chipped, or loosened.
