Dr. Stephen Kovar has been part of the My Dentist family since 2008. Dr. Kovar completed his undergraduate work in biomedical sciences at Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana. Following MSU, he was accepted and attended Oregon Health Sciences University School of Dentistry where he graduated with honors in 1995. Following dental school, he completed a general practice hospital dental residency at the Wadsworth/UCLA VA Medical Center in Los Angeles. Dr. Kovar also earned his fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry – a designation that only 5% of dentists in North America receive.
After completing his education, Dr. Kovar returned to Portland Oregon where he practiced at Kaiser Permanente and was also a Professional Dental Director for their North Interstate operations where he oversaw a team of clinical staff including general dentists, an oral surgeon, prosthodontist, periodontists, hygienists as well as all other clinical staff. Eventually, he parted with Kaiser Permanente and had a private practice in a Portland suburb and became an Assistant Professor of Restorative Dentistry at Oregon Health Sciences University where he taught both clinically and pre-clinically. Eventually, the rainy weather got the best of him and he relocated to the Phoenix metropolitan area where he has practiced since.
